Jobs/Roles in the ECE community: National/Federal Level

*          At least three national/federal organizations or communities of practice that appealed to you, and explain why you chose them.

The three national organizations that appeal to my challenge are National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), Zero to Three, and United States Department of Health and Human Services.  All three of these organizations have offer support and up-to-date resources and information when working with early childhood.  All three organizations offer publications and conference to attend for training on current issues.  These organizations have been in my resource bank for many years, as they provide knowledge on age ranges from zero to adolescence.   The sites keep me abreast of new information, ideas and data regarding a child’s development.

*          Job opportunities (currently available or not) that interest you

Currently NAEYC and Zero to Three organizations do not have any jobs available that I am qualified for, however the jobs that were posted give me an idea of what this organization is looking for as far as an employee.  The United States Department of Health and Human Services had several jobs that were of interest that worked with assisting youth into adulthood and child protective service.

*          Skills and experience that you would need to competently fulfill each of these roles.

The skills and experiences needed for the United States Department of Health and Human Services position is my current teaching position with high school students.  Currently I teach students life and job skills to prepare them for post-secondary life.  The child protective job training in placement services, self-protection training, and hands on job experience in working as a social worker or educator.

  1. Three great organizations you have listed in your blog this week. NAEYC is one of my favorites. It is full of information for educators as well as parents. I visit this site several times per week for my current job for training documents as well as information to provide to parents.

ZERO TO THREE is another great website and organization. I love the information that is provided about child development. This organization has been helpful in my capstone project.

Thank you for providing these websites for further review.

  2. NAEYC and Zero to Three are well known organizations in the Early Childhood field. I would definitely be interested in working with child protective services through United States Department of Health and Human Services. Do you know what the job qualifications are for this particular job?

    Thank you for sharing.
